The Launch of Instagram Reels

TikTok has risen to social media fame, but threats to ban the app make it less-than-stable for content creators. Enter: Instagram Reels. 

Instagram Reels work similarly to TikTok videos. Users can upload multiple 15-second videos with new effects and tools. Reels will have their own tab in your profile and can be discovered via the explore page if your account is public. 

Ad placement and monetization is not yet available, though Instagram has announced that they plan to make branded content available in the coming weeks

Instagram Shop is Now in Public Testing

Instagram Shop is an in-app shopping destination so users can connect with brands and make purchases without having to leave the app.  For brands, this can mean increased sales and interactions with your social media accounts, so make sure to take advantage! 

Right now testing is only happening in the US, but will expand globally.

Rollout of Facebook Pay

Facebook Pay offers users a secure way to make purchases, much like PayPal or Apple Pay. Users are able to buy products, send money to friends, or donate to causes they believe in. 

Set up is a breeze. From “settings” tap “Facebook pay” and add your preferred payment method. You’re ready to pay!

This feature will be available through Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Whatsapp.

New Instagram Fonts

You may have noticed that stories look a little different as of late. Instagram has introduced new font options, including a disability-inclusive Comic Sans option. Make sure you have the latest version of the app to access this new feature.
